Growing incidents of dissatisfaction among ticket seekers and resultant chaos and damage to property by angry supporters have forced the Gujarat Congress and BJP to install CCTV cameras inside and outside party offices and insure office assets.
Congress workers went on a rampage recently in Ahmedabad. Even the BJP is not immune from such behaviour by unruly workers.
Given the increase of such incidents, the parties have fitted CCTV cameras to keep an eye on every nook and corner of party offices.
?We have installed CCTV cameras in all big party offices to keep the premises safe,? Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manoj Doshi told IBN7.
The state Congress has insured the main party office for a whopping Rs 2.5 crore.
?The infrastructure is put in place for at least 25 years. So the party has insured the costly stuff,? said Congress leader Rohit Patel.
Both the national parties have taken to technology to protect their properties from unhappy leaders and workers who often go on a rampage to vent their ire. Time will tell how much these measures will help them protect their assets.
The state goes into polls on 13 and 17 December.
