While figure skaters Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov of Russia led after the pairs short program at the Trophee Bompard, an international skating competition, we couldn?t help but marvel at some of the fantastic images from the Friday event, as covered by The Associated Press.

Canadians Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, who were silver medalists at Skate Canada in October and are hoping to qualify for the season-ending Grand Prix finals in Russia , weren?t doing so well. Duhamel fell on a landing after poorly executing a triple lutz.

Duhamel was annoyed because ?this jump has been going so well for us in the last few months, that maybe I was too relaxed.?

The Trophee Bompard is the fifth of six events. Later Friday were the men?s and women?s short programs, followed by ice dance.
